Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Actors and filmmakers

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Actors and filmmakers. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.

Adding a new AfD discussion
Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
  1. Edit this page and add {} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary, it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
  2. You should also tag the AfD by adding {} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
Note that there are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
Removing a closed AfD discussion
Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
Other types of discussions
You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Actors and filmmakers.
Further information
For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

the only claim to notability here is that she was crowned Miss Eco, which as we know is not actually notable. There's no coverage of her elsewhere and something being nominated (??) for a guiness world record isn't inherently notable either. None of the sources write about her in any great detail and those that do are not generally reliable. Praxidicae (talk) 20:29, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

this is a puffed up resume that lacks in depth coverage and reliable sources. It looks pretty convincing at first but several of these sites are built to promote individuals and are not reliable, such as telenews.pk, which can't even keep their company name straight on their about us page. In fact, several of the sources are just copied from the businessinsider piece which appear to be the only thing that's actually independent of him/a pr team. Praxidicae (talk) 16:21, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

Note: This discussion has been included in the list of Actors and filmmakers-related deletion discussions. Shellwood (talk) 16:28, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Yes Telenews was not a good source to include as it was redundant but it doesn't appear to be a good enough reason to delete a page. Deleting the source that copied business insider seems more reasonable than deleting the entire page. There are plenty of relevant press links to support notability on this individual. Jamesdanglewood (talk) 17:43, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
Jamesdanglewood Like which ones? Praxidicae (talk) 17:56, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
Business insider, Vacations and Travel, Tech Advisor, Daily Herald, Fstpoppers, london daily post. Jamesdanglewood (talk) 18:16, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
That's almost laughable. this is a one sentence mention, this is an interview, i am 100% sure that this piece is unreliable as it's clear they didn't even bother to do a cursory editing check and it was user submitted via this garbage site, appears to be mostly an interview and this is 100% a fake news site trying to pass itself off as legitimate.Praxidicae (talk) 18:50, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
This daily herald piece should be removed as it appears to be a less reliable source. Other sources included appear to be reliable. Please note there a source that states otherwise to be able to reference. I have removed the Daily Herald citation. Annemariecarney (talk) 19:53, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

Non notable musician & actor who falls short of WP:NMUSIC & WP:NACTOR and generally has no in-depth significant coverage in reliable sources. Although I should mention that he was named as One of the new artists to “watch out for” but that isn’t evidence of true notability. Fails WP:GNG ultimately. Which should be enough to address the issue on the campaign's legitimacy. ミラP 03:06, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

This article may be an attempted promotion and it appears to be too soon for an article on this comedian. The article currently has six sources but all are either brief media introductions or short interviews that do little more than indicate his existence in the Nigerian comedy scene. An Internet search reveals a few more of the same, but he has not received the reliable and significant coverage that is necessary under the notability rules for media personalities. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 23:42, 20 January 2020 (UTC)

  • Neutral: I'll try to be neutral here. I don't think media coverage tends to be promotional here. Pulse Nigeria and PN News Nigeria are independent media sources. WP:TOOSOON may apply however. Lunar Clock (talk) 05:55, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep Voicing Lunar Clock, + he satisfies at least criterion #1 & #2 under WP:ENT. Furthermore I can obseve an abundant use of RS in the article & even per WP:THREE he qualifies.Celestina007 (talk) 13:41, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Comment from Nominator - I won't bludgeon the process, but the voters above have missed an important point. The sources mentioning Mr. Arole, including those already in the article, may very well be reliable sources in themselves. However, they have all mentioned him in very brief and introductory ways, pretty much simply announcing that he exists with no further in-depth analysis of anything he may have accomplished. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 13:48, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

Sometimes, I think any registered users should be allowed to create new articles, and sometimes I think we should set the bar to extended confirmed. —usernamekiran (talk) 06:48, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
    • I meant "only allow articles to be created through AfC". In the early days of Wikipedia we allow non-registered users to create articles. 4 Tolkien related articles were created one day back in December 2002 by one non-registered user. one was on Barahir which never had any sources for the next 17 years until it was deleted this month.John Pack Lambert (talk) 14:11, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
Hey usernamekiran & Johnpacklambert you both have sound & valid arguments here. The thought that anyone can create an article is borderline annoying & for relatively new users I feel they should be compelled to submit their articles via the AFC until they prove they have grasped the concept of notability.Celestina007 (talk) 15:54, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

Nominating this on the basis of TNT because it needs to be blown up. It's all fan cruft/original research, as we know geni, ancestry etc...rely on user submissions and cannot be used to establish reliable fact. This has spun so far out of control that I can't see how it can possibly or reasonably be saved and there's no good history to revert to because the several thousand edits have been inundated by socks. It is so far beyond anything we could consider encyclopedic and is just a giant pile of WP:NOR. Praxidicae (talk) 21:02, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

    • In the ten years it's existed no one has bothered to add actual reliable sources, it's all synthesis and unsourced cruft and afaict, there's no sources talking about the lineage as we display it in this article. And here is what it would look like if I removed the unsourced or improperly sourced cruft. It becomes a list of people with the name Disney. Praxidicae (talk) 13:25, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

Already deleted last September under G11 and G12, this individual clearly fails NACTOR and GNG. All coverage revolves around the restaurant he co-owns with Lisa Vanderpump (and a lawsuit) and is not about him. Note notability is not inherited nor garnered via association. His "roles" have been very minor ones, and most citations link to puff articles. I suggest salting the name as well. His Spanish language coverage is of a similar nature, also revolving around an apparent "likeness" to George Clooney and his father's singing fame (mostly in Argentinian tabloids). I didn't nominate under CSD G4 given the copyright violation is no more, and it no longer appears to be identical to its former version (although I obviously cannot verify this myself). Finally, the article appears to have been edited by someone with close ties to the subject. For evidence, contact me. PK650 (talk) 23:07, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Nothing but puff articles could be found in a search, and the odd thing about them is that they are all quite similar as are the images posted with the puff articles on basically unknown sites. On the previous wikipedia article on Gilda Joelle Osborn you also claimed Naluda Magazine had no contact page when it is clearly listed here https://www.naludamagazine.com/contact/. Ciaragomez1, it's just a little odd that that contact page isn't actually linked from the main page. I did do a search and check the source code. • Comment I see a lot of enthusiasm to delete my article - it was my very first significant contribution for Wikipedia and I had less experience back then. But I really don't understand now how it works as my article had been reviewed and accepted by three other editors including Onel5969 (that guy retired already), Robby and Sagotreespirit. Those editors didn't ask an questions and didn't dispute that article. Now, it the other way around and someone already cut the links just to show the article is even less notable. I understand it is a free community, but it just makes no sense to me and it puzzles me how Wikipedia has any articles when all the new Wikipedians are discouraged to contribute. --Parksbows (talk) 20:36, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
I am sorry you feel that way however the requirements are made very clear when publishing articles particularly about BLPs and the WP:ONUS is on the creator to make sure it's appropriately sourced and notable but also do your due diligence in assessing the sources for reliability and making sure that their editorial standards are clear. this is completely unreliable, so is this with an added dash of gossipy spam, also completely unreliable and fake per this considering "Claudia Pasos" is actually Regina Casé. Would you like me to continue? Because there are several more identical fake sources like this. Praxidicae (talk) 20:52, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

  • Comment. Hello, Coffee // have a ☕️ // beans. No paid editing was involved and I clearly declared it on my page. As you could see by my previous comment, I asked the community how it happens that the editors first accept the article (3 editors) and then comes a new team and vote on deletion and also accuse the new comer in all the Wikipedia sins. Kafka would write a great story about Wikipedia, it is a pity he is not alive and I'm afraid if I did any changes to his page, I would be blocked. For now I can only say this: the first editors (who accepted the page) could just have moved the page to the draft (or delete) and explain what was wrong with it. Now, it looks like a circus. And one more thing - just to make everyone feel better - I do not object the deletion if the community finds the article not fit for Wikipedia. It was really nice to meet you all warm and nice people here.--Parksbows (talk) 02:18, 22 January 2020 (UTC)

  • Comment There is no news sources just the mention of an award with two other people this is not enough to write a whole article. Simple sharing an award with others is not enough we need sources to back up the article and it doesn’t automatically make them notable. Australianblackbelt (talk) 17:40, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

Despite my best efforts to improve coverage about pornographic actors in the wake of the pornography biography notability guidelines being deprecated, Nikki Dial does not pass WP:GNG. I spent time working on her article and found one poor quality interview from a non-mainstream porno review website and mere mentions about her elsewhere, everything else is a primary source from companies she has worked for or won awards from. Now, perhaps folks want to see winners of AVN Best Actress be inherently notable, but, at this point, Ms. Dial does not pass our general notability guidelines. This is another one of these pre-internet era ones that could conceivably have decent coverage in reliable sources if someone had access to the right sources of that era. However, given that what is online is extremely poor, we've got nothing to show that anything more does exist, and I'm less confident that it might than some of the others I've already voted to delete, it needs deleting until and unless someone can come up with something better. She also main actress of Wassanaye Sanda Sinhala movie as role Mihiri which is directed by Udayakantha Warnasuriya. She judged the Future Faces of the World 2019. She is notable woman. @WeTalkWiki, okay so listen Ref bombing in order to fool the unsuspecting editor with a host of unreliable sources & usage of Facebook & Instagram as means of proving notability says loudly how non notable subject of our discussion is. You may need to read the WP:GNG policy before creating other articles in future. Lastly the manner in which you have placed this references here are very disruptive & hurtful to the eyes, well at least mine. Cheers.Celestina007 (talk) 16:55, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Lol. I mentioned facebook here coz it's official facebook page of that movie Wassanaye Sanda(its not a reliable source). I think you have lack of knowledge about finding articles(maybe your lazzyness. don't do it again). You know some websites mentioned here are famous site of that country. If you don't know about things, you should remain silent otherwise you will be disappointed(with respect). I dont know how these ref hurts to you but after watching these anyone can say she's notable and your investigation about things are very poor. Thank you! WeTalkWiki 17:14, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
WeTalkWiki Do lay off the personal attacks & calling me lazy, which I am anything but, is quite uncivil & constitutes a personal attack. So back to business, we need in-depth significant coverage in reliable sources to establish that someone or something is notable without which we are unable to tell or verify notability claims. Now get to work & come up with those reliable sources. Cheers.Celestina007 (talk) 17:26, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Ok. How that is personal attack? Akward? Lazzness is a word which means someone who doesnt do his or her work in correct manner(according to my knowledge). How is that attack? Im out of idea? Yeah. I'm in the business. Thank you! WeTalkWiki 17:49, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

However, sources are needed. Dflaw4 (talk) 08:45, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

  • Weak keep I'm reflecting back on my revamp of the article and the sources - primarily small mentions. The most significant coverage I could find was around an arrest related to an outstanding warrant and the drama that ensued around it. Missvain (talk) 20:10, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep There's enough here from reliable sources to satisfy GNG. It's not only one aspect of her life that's covered in the sources. The photo with the cop was newsworthy. The involvement with the serial killer case was newsworthy. The AVN awards were newsworthy and sourced to a RS and not just AVN.
Side note, irrelevant to notability, The comment in the nomination about "sold herself" is not a particularly sensitive way to describe a sex worker. It reflects a value judgment that ill befits comment on wikipedia about a living person. She sold a service. She appeared in adult entertainment. Those things can, and should, be mentioned without the slant. David in DC (talk)
  • I agree that the nomination remark on which David in DC commented was entirely uncalled for. -The Gnome (talk) 00:04, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete. This is about a person who worked in porn and as a prostitute without making any waves in either field that would satisfy WP:NACTOR/WP:NMODEL, and once got arrested by the police. It does not get more trivial than that. The sources are a joke: The Miami New Times article is about a Leroy C. Griffith, "pioneer of porn" (at least as far as Miami is concerned, apparently), who manages sex dancers, among whom is Strong; the citation of a book about the infamous Mustang Ranch where our subject used to work (she is indeed mentioned a couple of times among the staff); a work of fiction (!); and then sources to news reports about her arrest or the arresting officers posing with her, along with porn websites tesifying that she starred in adult ware and won awards. -The Gnome (talk) 00:04, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
    • She was neither an actress or a model, so she has no more need to meet those than she needs to meet WP:FOOTBALL. The question is whether she meets WP:GNG, and these repeated misunderstandings of of guidelines add nothing to these discussions. The Drover's Wife (talk) 08:57, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Still can't see the direct link between WP:PORNBIO and WP:ACTOR/WP:NMODEL, huh? Our subject is listed as a " former pornographic actor." And here is what WP:ACTOR says, actually, quoted for your perusal: "Previous criteria for pornographic actors [i.e. WP:PORNBIO] were superseded by the above [i.e. WP:NACTOR] and the basic guidelines after the March 2019 RfC." Alla them porn actors from March 2019 onwards have their notability assessed on the basis of GNG or the NACTOR specifcs. Clear? Face-smile.svg -The Gnome (talk) 13:55, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Considering that the RfC didn't propose that language in WP:NACTOR, the RfC closer didn't mention it, and the post-RfC discussion had a consensus to do something else entirely and it only existed because of some random user adding it anyway, I've removed it so we never have to have this discussion again. The Drover's Wife (talk) 22:55, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Yes, adult film stars are indeed actors or actresses. One of my goals is to represent them with the same dignity allotted to their "mainstream" actor brethren. Missvain (talk) 21:21, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
They're not actors in the sense WP:NACTOR conceives of, which is why it's basically impossible for anyone in porn to meet those guidelines; they're much more accurately seen as entertainers in this context (if one were going to try to pin an SNG to them). Nonetheless, there's never been a discussion proposing, let alone a consensus for, a requirement that they should have to meet WP:NACTOR. The Drover's Wife (talk) 22:55, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
  • The relevant SNG is WP:Notability (people)#Entertainers, for which WP:ENT, WP:NMODEL and WP:NACTOR are shortcuts. It is meant to apply to entertainers of all types except musicians. That SNG also includes pundits and celebrities. As a performer of a role for entertainment of views, the porn performer meets the literal definition of actor. As a former stripper, the subject meets the loose definition of dancer. Finally the RfC explicitly calls for porn stars to be evaluated under the entertainers. The WP:ENT criteria are attainable as long as independent reliable sources support the notability claims. • Gene93k (talk) 01:56, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete: does not meet WP:ENT / WP:BASIC. K.e.coffman (talk) 18:05, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep - I was skeptical before, but after missvain and coffeeandcrumbs edits, I believe she passes WP:BASIC [15][16][17] plus the multiple mention of her brotheling activities. Her awards and hall of fame status are evidence towards WP:ENT. Morbidthoughts (talk) 23:11, 18 January 2020 (UTC)
For your references to general notability I won't respond any further but about the porn related regalia, I must point out that, after the deprecation of WP:PORNBIO, porn awards are not enough by themselves as evidence of notability. Otherwise, it'd be as if WP:PORNBIO were still in place, intact and omnipotent. -The Gnome (talk) 09:34, 21 January 2020 (UTC)

  • Delete No No No. Voicing Praxidicae, there’s no in-depth significant coverage in reliable sources. Furthermore I also observe the subject of our discussion hasn’t won any major notable award hence falling short of ANYBIO.Celestina007 (talk) 12:04, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete No multiple significant roles as required by WP:NACTOR. Mattg82 (talk) 20:20, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete. This is a clear delete from me. No SIGCOV available either in print or online, and his roles are minor at best. Plenty of these are the work of agents trying to prop their clients up. Best, PK650 (talk) 22:28, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Delete I searched, but the best I could find was a story in his hometown paper about the pizza ad .IceFishing (talk) 18:34, 17 January 2020 (UTC)

He is director, producer, screenwriter in the porn industry, with porn-related awards and various porn ventures, such as the WoodRocket website. The article has no place in Wikipedia since its subject fails WP:ENTERTAINER and WP:BASIC, which are the notability criteria since the deprecation of WP:PORNBIO. -The Gnome (talk) 17:51, 30 December 2019 (UTC)

  • Delete getting covered by the PR producing porno advertising industry is not a sign of notability.John Pack Lambert (talk) 19:50, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
    • Comment This is not just promotional PR. The long filmography list and awards won demonstrate notability. Ambrosiawater (talk) 02:48, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep - Not sure why WP:ENTERTAINER is being applied to him when he's a director and filmmaker. As such he satisfies criteria 3 of WP:FILMMAKER given the collective coverage of his movies in that Google News search results. Examples: [19][20][21][22][23]. Forbes describes him as the "de facto king of porn parodies" while Vice calls him a "celebrated porn parody director" which is evidence of criteria 1.[24][25] He and his company are also covered in these sources.[26][27][28] Morbidthoughts (talk) 00:06, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

  • Delete: the sources provided above are not indicative of meeting WP:CREATIVE / WP:BIO. For example, the Observer source has this to say: “We figured we had three choices for titles: ‘Game of Bones,’ ‘Game of Moans’ or ‘Game of Thongs,” said Lee Roy Myers, who in addition to being the least visionary porn director/writer working today, is also the purveyor of WoodRocket.com, the company making the web series. (note "least visionary in the descriptor"). Vox is also an interview. I'm not convinced about them calling the subject a "celebrated porn parody director"; I'm sure that there are plenty of outlets calling various nn directors by this moniker. The other sources are equally inconvincing. --K.e.coffman (talk) 02:11, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep as demonstrated by Morbidthoughts, he meets WP:FILMMAKER criteria #3: The person has created ... a significant or well-known work or collective body of work. Full Holes[29][30][31][32][33] and Fap to the Future,[34][35][36][37] are just two of the notable films made by this filmmaker. On his own, he has received at least one very significant coverage.[38] --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 09:35, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
Please indicate how exactly you assert that the films of our subject are notable per WP:NFSOURCES and WP:NFOE. Were they widely distributed, have they received full-length reviews by two or more nationally known critics, or were they of historical importance? We have not allowed (and rightly so) films to appear on Wikipedia that are far more known than our subject's output ever was. -The Gnome (talk) 08:54, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
WP:NFOE is not a restriction on WP:NFSOURCES or the GNG. Are you arguing the coverage of those movies in those links are inadequate in terms of the amount of coverage, independence, or reliability? Morbidthoughts (talk) 00:59, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

  • Keep Per Morbidthoughts and Coffeeandcrumbs. He is regularly interviewed, even if representing his company, WoodRocket. He's also featured in The Oxford Handbook of Adaptation Studies by Thomas Leitch. Missvain (talk) 21:10, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
But interviews are considered to be a primary source and thus are not an indication of notability! See WP:PRIMARY: Examples of primary sources include...interviews; and WP:PSTS: Secondary or tertiary sources are needed to establish the topic's notability. -The Gnome (talk) 08:54, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Yeah, there are people that feel differently per WP:INTERVIEW#Notability. When independent reliable sources decide to interview a subject for a feature, there may be a good reason why, tautological even when discussing the definition of notability. Sure, the transcript itself is primary and any contentious information from that should be considered suspect but that is an issue of verifiability, not notability. Morbidthoughts (talk) 00:52, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
  • Keep Clearly meets WP:GNG and is the winner of XBIZ Award, a notable merit-based award in the industry. The long list of blue links in the Filmography table clearly indicates that he is notable. Ambrosiawater (talk) 02:46, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
@Ambrosiawater: With the exception of the Seinfeld parody, all the bluelinks in the Filmography section are pointing to the original, notable works that he produced porn parodies of. Very few of his actual works are covered, I just wanted to check you're aware of this. ~ mazca talk 21:06, 21 January 2020 (UTC)
