Hi! I'm "the wub", although in my occasional forays into real life I go by the more mundane "Pete". (In case you're curious my username comes from the short story "Beyond Lies the Wub" by Philip K. Dick.)
My first edit from this account was in March 2005, though I'd been reading and making the odd anonymous edit for a long while before that. It is now 5416 days later and I'm still here. Oh dear. I became an admin in October 2005; it's no big deal.
I invite scrutiny of all my actions on Wikipedia, especially those that involve admin privileges. If you have concerns then please contact me. Note to other admins: feel free to undo or overrule any of my admin actions if you think it will benefit Wikipedia. It would be nice if you drop me a message telling me, but you don't have to wait around for me to reply and I certainly won't shout at you for "wheel warring".
The best way to contact me is on my talk page. I do prefer transparent on-wiki communication, but if you do feel the need to get in touch privately, or you are currently blocked, then e-mail me at thewub<döt>wiki<αt>googlemail<döt>com
See /Wikiphilosophy for my views on a variety of Wikipedia/Wikimedia matters.

I saw you crossed out a double vote in your RfA! Now I don't feel bad for being the only one. ;) Since you did a truly admin-like action before being an admin, I hereby award you this Barnstar of Diligence for your extraordinary scrutiny. Titoxd(?!?)

Tasty Tunnock's tea cakes (a delicacy in the British northeast, I'm told) to say thank you very much for standing in the Esperanza elections, being a great candidate and helping to make Wikipedia better for everyone just by existing! ➨ ❝REDVERS❞
I hereby award you with this Brilliant Idea Barnstar (1st class with oak leaf clusters) for creating a method of archiving old discussions of Business Deletions. I don't know how you do it, but it works well and is a useful enhancement. Gavin Collins 12:22, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
For your tireless and majestic work put into the Portal:United Kingdom. It's a fantastic page!... My only surprise is that you haven't recieved an award for this before now! Well done! -- Jza84 · (talk) 01:23, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
The XfD Barnstar - There is no question that you deserve this for your hard work and constancy in XfD discussions. - jc37 02:28, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar - This barnstar is presented to The Wub, for his efforts in defending the defenseless. The true mark of great character is defending someone when there is no possible benefit to such actions. Your comments on the ANI today were brave and selfless. Thank you so much for being a part of wikipedia, you are truly an asset to this project. Ikip (talk) 15:59, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
This barnstar is awarded to everyone who - whatever their opinion - contributed to the discussion about Wikipedia and SOPA. Thank you for being a part of the discussion. Presented by the Wikimedia Foundation.
